Leg Movement and Arousal Analytics, Night After Night at Home
RestEaze is a multi-night, ambulatory monitoring platform designed to assist clinicians in diagnosing and managing RLS and PLMD. A standalone variant, RestEaze Guardian, developed with funding from the Defense Health Agency, runs its analytics on the device, offline, to monitor sleep and predict next-day performance.

A New Approach to Leg Movements During Sleep
Beyond the single-night lab study: continuous, high-fidelity leg movement recording, night after night.
Fig. 1 — RestEaze band, exploded, skin side up
Shines light into the skin and reads what comes back to follow capillary blood flow, giving heart rate, heart-rate variability and respiratory rate through the night.
Five sensors in one ankle band record all night, starting as soon as the band is on: motion for leg movements and position, PPG for heart rate, HRV and respiration, plus skin conductance and temperature.
Each leg movement is detected and counted, then scored by standard rules: during sleep or the whole night, isolated or periodic, with or without a cortical arousal (found by machine learning). Counts become per-hour indices, like the PLMS index.
Each night is scored by morning and ready in the dashboard, with trends across nights:
- Sleep
- Total sleep time, efficiency, WASO, sleep quality, in-bed times
- Movements
- LM, PLM, LMS and PLMS counts and indices, with arousal
- Vitals
- Heart rate, HRV and respiration through the night
- Timeline
- RESTful, restless and wake, minute by minute
How RestEaze Works: Band, App and Cloud
Three parts, one data path: the band records each night, the app syncs it, and the cloud scores it for your dashboard.
Sleep Quality
Periodic Leg Movements During Sleep
Comprehensive Sleep Monitoring
RestEaze pairs purpose-built sensors with AASM-based scoring for a detailed picture of every night.
Signal processing and machine learning label each leg movement during sleep (LMS), find the periodic series (PLMS) and flag the movements that come with cortical arousals.
Periodic Leg Movements During Sleep
Night-to-night variability is a problem for single-night lab studies. RestEaze is designed for multi-night recording, so a screening doesn't hinge on one night.
7-Night Averages
Research and clinical accuracy are at the core of our products. Record from one leg or both, with the two bands kept on a shared clock.
- Unilateral or bilateral protocols
- Millisecond multi-device synchronization
- Left/right movement attribution
Patients log subjective sleep measures in the app each morning and evening, paired automatically with the night's objective sensor record.
- Guided morning and evening entries
- Bedtime, wake time and symptom logs
- Paired with the matching night of data
Clinicians create patient accounts and review each night's processed data in the RestEaze dashboard.
- Patient and cohort account management
- Night-by-night PLM and arousal review
- Data export, with PDF reports coming soon
What RestEaze Measures, Night by Night
Leg movements, arousals, sleep timing and vital signs, scored for every night recorded.
Each movement's onset and duration, with counts and per-hour indices for the whole recording and during sleep only.
Whether each leg movement is associated with a cortical arousal, with counts and per-hour indices of those movements.
Heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate and skin temperature.
In-bed and out-of-bed times, from whether the leg is upright or lying.
Sleep onset and offset; time, duration and count of awakenings.
Sleep efficiency (SE) and total sleep time (TST).
